Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons before, during, and after surgical procedures in the Operating Room.
- Prepare operating rooms by arranging sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Maintain strict sterile field and aseptic technique throughout the surgery.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure patient safety.
- Handle surgical specimens accurately and transport them to the lab for analysis.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes immediately to the charge nurse or surgeon.
- Position patients on the operating table and create sterile wound drapes.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Scrub Tech certification required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification.
- Minimum 1-2 years of recent experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and aseptic technique.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy equipment as needed.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
