Join our elite surgical team at Nashville General Hospital through our exclusive paid training program for Surgical Technologists. We're seeking motivated individuals to become vital members of our operating room staff while receiving comprehensive hands-on training. This 6-month program combines classroom instruction with real-world surgical experience under the guidance of certified professionals. Our state-of-the-art facility performs over 5,000 surgical procedures annually across specialties including orthopedics, neurosurgery, and cardiovascular procedures. As a teaching hospital affiliated with Vanderbilt University, you'll work alongside top-tier surgeons and gain exposure to cutting-edge surgical technologies and techniques.
Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment and arranging sterile instruments according to surgical protocols
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment as needed
- Maintain sterile fields and ensure compliance with OSHA and AORN standards
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgeries
- Prepare patients for procedures by positioning them and draping surgical sites
- Transport specimens to pathology and maintain accurate documentation
- Manage inventory of surgical supplies and restock operating rooms
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- CPR certification required (will be provided during training)
- Strong manual dexterity and ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Commitment to complete the 6-month paid training program
- Pass background check and pre-employment drug screening
- Tennessee state eligibility for surgical technology certification (will be obtained during training)
