Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile fields and surgical instruments for procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations (instrument passing, wound retraction)
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce aseptic techniques
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments pre/post-procedure
- Transport patients and specimens safely between departments
- Operate sterilization equipment (autoclaves, washer-sterilizers)
- Document surgical supply usage and inventory management
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- No prior surgical tech experience necessary
- Ability to stand for 8+ hours and lift 50+ pounds
- Pass background check and drug screening
- Basic computer literacy for documentation systems
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
- Ability to work in high-pressure, fast-paced environments
- Valid CPR certification or willingness to obtain
