Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms and sterile fields for surgical procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and supplies
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce infection control protocols
- Handle surgical specimens for laboratory analysis
- Operate specialized equipment like laparoscopic and robotic systems
- Inventory and manage surgical supplies and equipment
- Document procedural details in electronic health records
- Mentor junior surgical techs on best practices
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of OR experience in acute care setting
- BLS/CPR certification with current ACLS preferred
- Knowledge of sterile processing and sterilization techniques
- Familiarity with electronic documentation systems
- Ability to stand for extended periods in fast-paced environments
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts
