Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile fields, instruments, and equipment according to surgical protocols
- Assist surgeons and nurses during procedures by passing instruments, retracting tissues, and providing direct support
- Maintain sterile environments throughout surgical cases, adhering to strict infection control standards
- Count and track all surgical supplies, instruments, and sponges before, during, and after procedures
- Transport patients to/from operating rooms and provide pre/post-operative support
- Participate in sterilization processes for instruments and equipment using autoclaves and chemical sterilizers
- Document all procedures accurately in electronic medical records systems
Qualifications
- Current Surgical Technologist certification (CST) from NBSTSA or equivalent
- Graduate of accredited Surgical Technology program or military training
- Minimum 1 year recent experience in hospital or ambulatory surgery center
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing techniques and surgical instrumentation
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
- Excellent manual dexterity and ability to stand for extended periods
- Current BLS/CPR certification and ability to obtain ACLS within 6 months
