Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment and arranging sterile instruments
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and maintaining sterile fields
- Handle surgical specimens for laboratory analysis
- Monitor inventory and restock operating room supplies
- Apply sterilization techniques per OSHA and AORN standards
- Document procedural details accurately in electronic health records
- Collaborate with nurses and anesthesia teams to ensure patient safety
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 1 year recent surgical tech experience in hospital setting
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing and aseptic techniques
- Ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification mandatory
- Proficiency in surgical instrument identification and handling
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts including weekends
