Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment, arranging instruments, and ensuring sterile environments
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and maintaining sterile fields
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgeries
- Prepare patients for procedures by positioning, draping, and assisting with anesthesia monitoring
- Manage surgical specimens for proper handling and transport to pathology
- Operate sterilization equipment and maintain inventory of surgical supplies
- Adhere to OSHA protocols and facility-specific safety standards
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 1 year recent surgical tech experience in OR setting
- BLS/CPR certification from AHA or Red Cross
- Knowledge of sterile processing and sterilization techniques
- Familiarity with major surgical specialties (Ortho, Neuro, General, Cardio)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in high-pressure environments
- Valid Tennessee healthcare worker clearance
