Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment and arranging sterile fields
- Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons during procedures
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce infection control protocols
- Assist with patient positioning and draping
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery
- Transport specimens to pathology lab
- Restock operating rooms and sterilize reusable instruments
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- No prior surgical tech experience necessary
- Ability to stand for extended periods (8+ hours)
- Manual dexterity and attention to detail
- Basic computer skills for documentation
- Background check and drug screen required
- Must complete paid training program (12 weeks)
- Certification exam preparation included
