Responsibilities
- Assess patients using the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) to determine acuity level and prioritize care
- Provide expert telephone triage for patients seeking remote medical advice
- Collaborate with physicians to develop immediate treatment plans
- Document patient encounters with meticulous accuracy in EMR systems
- Maintain rapid throughput while ensuring critical cases receive immediate attention
- Train new staff on triage protocols and departmental standards
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Active RN license in California with minimum 3 years emergency department experience
- BLS, ACLS, and TNCC certifications required
- Expertise in ESI triage methodology and telephone triage protocols
- Exceptional clinical judgment and rapid decision-making abilities
- Strong communication skills with diverse patient populations
- Proficiency in Epic EMR systems
- BSN or higher degree preferred
