Responsibilities
- Assess patient acuity and prioritize emergency cases using ESI (Emergency Severity Index) protocols
- Perform rapid head-to-toe assessments and determine appropriate level of care
- Coordinate with physicians, specialists, and ancillary departments for seamless patient flow
- Document clinical observations and triage decisions in Epic EHR system
- Provide compassionate communication to patients and families during high-stress situations
- Maintain inventory of triage supplies and equipment
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and emergency drills
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Texas (or compact state)
- Minimum 3 years emergency department experience
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Proficient in ESI triage methodology
- Exceptional assessment skills for diverse patient populations
- Strong crisis intervention and de-escalation abilities
- Experience with Epic EMR system preferred
- Bachelor's in Nursing (BSN) preferred
