Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine the urgency of medical conditions and prioritize care protocols.
- Perform telephone triage to evaluate symptoms, provide initial medical advice, and facilitate appropriate referrals to physicians or specialist services.
- Document patient histories and vital signs accurately and efficiently in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and self-care instructions to promote recovery.
- Monitor patient flow to ensure efficient waiting room operations and reduce wait times during peak hours.
Qualifications
- Active RN License issued by the State of Texas (required).
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a clinical setting, preferably in a triage or emergency room environment.
- Strong clinical assessment skills with the ability to distinguish between minor ailments and critical emergencies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear patient interaction.
- Proficiency with EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech).
