Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive telephone assessments of patient symptoms to determine the urgency of care required.
- Apply clinical reasoning to prioritize patient needs and recommend appropriate levels of care.
- Document all interactions accurately and promptly within the electronic health record (EHR).
- Coordinate patient referrals to appropriate specialists, urgent care centers, or emergency departments.
- Provide patient education and medication management instructions to ensure continuity of care.
- Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to resolve complex clinical inquiries.
- Monitor and report emerging trends or public health concerns to the nursing leadership team.
Qualifications
- Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Virginia.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with specific experience in triage or urgent care preferred.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is required.
- Strong computer proficiency with experience in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for effective decision-making.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
