Responsibilities
- Perform rapid patient assessments and prioritize acuity levels in high-volume emergency department
- Initiate appropriate interventions based on ESI (Emergency Severity Index) protocols
- Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, and ancillary staff to ensure timely patient flow
- Document assessments accurately in EMR systems within established timeframes
- Provide patient education and discharge instructions for low-acuity cases
- Maintain compliance with TJC, NYSDOH, and OSHA regulations
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and root cause analyses
Qualifications
- Current NY RN license with minimum 2 years ED/trauma experience
- BLS, ACLS, and TNCC certifications required
- Proficiency with ESI triage protocols and emergency department workflows
- Excellent clinical judgment and rapid decision-making abilities
- Strong communication skills with diverse patient populations
- Experience with Epic EMR system preferred
- BSN degree required (MSN preferred)
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends
