Job Summary:
As a Triage Nurse, you will serve as the critical link between patients and medical providers. You will utilize your clinical expertise to assess symptoms via phone, determine the urgency of care, and provide immediate medical guidance. This role is essential for reducing ER overcrowding and ensuring patients receive the appropriate level of attention.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive telephonic patient assessments to evaluate symptoms and medical history.
- Provide expert clinical guidance and triage instructions to patients and their families.
- Document all patient interactions accurately and comprehensively in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Collaborate with physicians and care teams to facilitate appropriate referrals and specialist appointments.
- Screen incoming calls for urgency levels and route them to the correct clinical channels.
- Monitor patient health trends and identify potential red flags requiring immediate intervention.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and departmental protocols.
Qualifications
- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Arizona.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of nursing experience, preferably in a clinical or telehealth setting.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is required.
- Strong proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and computer navigation.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to de-escalate patient anxiety and diffuse tense situations.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills under pressure.
