Responsibilities

  • Patient Intake & Vitals: Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and accurately measure and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, weight) prior to provider exams.
  • Exam Room Prep: Prepare examination rooms with necessary instruments, ensure sterility, and set up medical equipment to ensure efficient provider workflows.
  • Assist Providers: Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during patient examinations, including drawing blood (phlebotomy) and administering injections as directed.
  • Administrative Support: Manage patient records by updating electronic health records (EHR) with visit notes, prescriptions, and test results promptly and accurately.
  • Lab Coordination: Collect and process laboratory specimens, ensuring proper handling and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Communication: Coordinate follow-up appointments, schedule tests, and act as a liaison between patients, insurance providers, and the clinical team.

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program; Certification (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) preferred.
  • Experience: 1+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting preferred; new graduates with externship experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
  • Skills: Proficient in electronic health record systems (EHR) such as Epic, AthenaHealth, or Cerner; strong computer literacy.
