Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Obtain vital signs, administer medications as directed, and prepare patients for examinations by the physician or nurse practitioner.
- Administrative Duties: Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, update medical records accurately, and handle insurance verification.
- Procedures: Perform basic laboratory tests, EKGs, and assist with minor medical procedures under supervision.
- Communication: Serve as a liaison between patients and the healthcare team, answering questions and providing education on health maintenance.
- Sanitation: Maintain a clean, sanitized, and safe environment in accordance with OSHA and HIPAA guidelines.
- Inventory: Monitor and restock examination room supplies and medical equipment.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or ambulatory care setting preferred.
- Availability: Must be available to work rotating night shifts (e.g., 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM or 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM).
- Skills: Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) software and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift patients (up to 50 lbs), and perform fine motor skills.
