Responsibilities
- Process and submit clean claims to insurance companies and government payers
- Verify patient eligibility, coverage, and benefits prior to service delivery
- Research and resolve claim denials, underpayments, and billing discrepancies
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and payer-specific regulations
- Generate regular reports on key performance metrics (AR, denial rates)
- Collaborate with clinical teams to document accurate coding information
- Utilize EHR/PM systems (Epic, NextGen preferred) for billing operations
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a clinical or hospital setting
- Expert knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification strongly preferred
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Medisoft, Lytec)
- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Experience with Maryland Medicaid and Medicare billing protocols
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
