Responsibilities
- Front Desk Management: Greet patients warmly upon arrival, check them in efficiently, and manage the check-out process.
- Appointment Scheduling: Schedule new and follow-up appointments via phone and patient portal, ensuring accurate calendar management.
- Patient Communication: Answer incoming calls professionally, route inquiries to the appropriate staff members, and provide basic patient information.
- Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to appointments to ensure smooth billing processes.
- Record Management: Maintain and update patient medical records, ensuring privacy and accuracy in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Administrative Support: Handle incoming mail, process payments, and manage the reception area to ensure a clean and welcoming environment.
- Multi-tasking: Manage high call volumes and patient traffic during peak hours without compromising service quality.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; certification in Medical Reception or Front Office Administration is a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience in a medical or dental front desk setting preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems (e.g., AthenaHealth, Epic) and basic computer skills.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional and welcoming demeanor.
- Organizational: Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks in a busy environment.
- Healthcare Knowledge: Basic understanding of medical terminology and insurance processes.
- Interpersonal: Ability to work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, and other office staff.
