Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws on patients of all ages with precision and minimal discomfort.
- Label, process, and store blood specimens according to strict laboratory protocols and HIPAA guidelines.
- Verify patient identity and accurately complete all necessary documentation and electronic health records (EHR).
- Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to strict safety and infection control standards.
- Assist with patient check-in processes, providing a welcoming and reassuring atmosphere.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure timely specimen transport and test coordination.
Qualifications
- Current certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT, ASPT, ASCP, or equivalent).
- Must possess a valid BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Previous experience in a clinical or hospital setting is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to calm anxious patients.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs when necessary.
