Responsibilities
- Provide Direct Patient Care: Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect.
- Vital Signs Monitoring: Accurately measure and record patient temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates as directed by nursing staff.
- Safety & Mobility: Utilize proper body mechanics to safely transfer, position, and ambulate patients using Hoyer lifts and walkers.
- Communication: Act as a vital communication link between patients, families, and the healthcare team, reporting changes in patient condition immediately.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including intake forms and care logs, in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Hygiene & Nutrition: Assist with meal planning, feeding patients, and ensuring proper hygiene and environmental cleanliness of patient rooms.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current, unencumbered Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license issued by the New York State Department of Labor.
- Certification: Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or long-term care setting preferred.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods (up to 12-hour shifts) and assist with patient weights.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong emphasis on empathy and patient-centered care.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Nursing Assistant Diploma or equivalent training preferred.
