Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
- Monitor and accurately record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates.
- Assist patients with mobility challenges, including transfers to and from beds and wheelchairs using proper body mechanics.
- Prepare and serve meals according to patient dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Communicate significant changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse or charge nurse immediately.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment in patient rooms and common areas.
- Document patient care activities and observations in electronic health records (EHR) promptly and accurately.
Qualifications
- Current, unencumbered Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license issued by the District of Columbia.
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association).
- Previous experience in a long-term care facility, hospital, or home health setting is preferred but not required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and families.
- Compassionate demeanor with a strong commitment to patient dignity and comfort.
- Ability to perform physical demands of the job, including standing, walking, and lifting patients.
