Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Monitor and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse, reporting abnormalities to the RN.
- Assist patients with mobility issues, including transferring and walking, using proper body mechanics and equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients, including meal preparation and sanitation.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care.
- Administer medications as directed by the Registered Nurse and document administration accurately.
- Respond promptly to patient needs and emergency situations following established protocols.
Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license required and in good standing with the State of Maryland.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Previous experience in a hospital, long-term care, or home health setting is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient empathy.
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks as required by the role.
- Completion of a state-approved CNA training program.
- Pass a background check and drug screening.
