Responsibilities
- Provide basic patient care under the direction of nursing and medical staff, including bathing, grooming, and dressing assistance.
- Monitor and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse, and report any abnormalities to the RN or supervisor immediately.
- Assist patients with mobility issues, including transfers, walking, and positioning to prevent bedsores and injuries.
- Prepare meals and assist patients with feeding according to dietary restrictions.
- Change bed linens and maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure holistic care.
- Respond promptly to patient calls and requests for assistance throughout the night shift.
Qualifications
- Valid and active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in the state of New York.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Previous experience in a hospital, long-term care facility, or home health setting is preferred but not always required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on patient-centered care.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team during the night shift.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and lift patients as needed.
- Compassionate demeanor and a genuine desire to help others.
