Responsibilities
- Prescription Processing: Accurately receive, review, and process prescription orders for patients, ensuring all information is correct and complete.
- Medication Preparation: Prepare and package medications, including labeling, safety checks, and dispensing under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, manage incoming shipments, and organize the pharmacy storage areas to ensure medication availability.
- Customer Service: Interact with patients to answer questions regarding prescriptions, insurance coverage, and medication usage in a friendly and professional manner.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all state and federal pharmacy laws, HIPAA regulations, and company policies regarding patient privacy and safety.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and pharmacy logs using our electronic health record (EHR) system.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) or ExCPT certification required.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; graduation from an accredited pharmacy technician program preferred.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and excellent math skills for dosage calculations.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients and staff.
- Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with pharmacy software and electronic health record systems.
