Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile fields and surgical instruments according to procedure protocols
- Assist surgeons during procedures with instrument passing and wound management
- Maintain sterile environments and implement infection control standards
- Inventory and sterilize equipment while tracking usage data
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams for seamless patient care
- Document surgical events accurately in electronic health records
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for OR efficiency
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 2 years recent OR experience in general surgery
- BLS/CPR certification with current status
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and sterile processing protocols
- Ability to stand for extended periods and handle physically demanding tasks
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking under pressure
- Excellent communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration
- Flexibility to cover evenings/weekends as needed
