Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during complex procedures including restorative, endodontic, and surgical treatments
- Perform chairside duties including instrument transfer, suction, and material preparation
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) with precision and patient comfort
- Manage infection control protocols and sterilize instruments per CDC guidelines
- Oversee patient flow and ensure optimal clinic efficiency
- Assist with patient education on oral hygiene and treatment plans
- Maintain accurate digital and paper patient records
Qualifications
- Active Dental Assistant certification (DANB or state-recognized)
- Minimum 2 years clinical experience in general dentistry
- Radiology certification and proficiency with digital imaging systems
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA compliance and dental software (e.g., Dentrix)
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to ease patient anxiety
- CPR certification and BLS training
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Valid Virginia dental radiography permit
