Responsibilities
- Chairside Assistance: Assist dentists during examinations, treatments, and surgeries, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Radiography: Perform and process dental X-rays (radiographs) accurately, adhering to safety protocols.
- Patient Care: Greet patients, update medical histories, and educate patients on oral hygiene and post-operative care.
- Infection Control: Strictly adhere to sterilization and disinfection procedures to maintain a safe environment.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and restock dental supplies and instruments to ensure readiness for procedures.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and treatment plans.
- Emergency Response: Be prepared to handle medical emergencies within the dental office.
Qualifications
- Certification: Graduation from an accredited dental assisting program (CORST or DANB certified preferred).
- Licensure: Current New York State Dental Assistant License.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical dental assisting experience.
- Skills: Proficiency in 4-handed dentistry, coronal polishing, and taking accurate impressions.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, patience, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
- Certifications: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and First Aid certification.
