Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during complex procedures including restorative, endodontic, and surgical treatments
- Perform chairside duties including instrument transfer, suction, and four-handed dentistry
- Take and develop accurate dental radiographs (X-rays) and digital impressions
- Manage infection control protocols and sterilization procedures in compliance with OSHA standards
- Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for efficient patient flow
- Provide post-operative instructions and patient education on oral hygiene
- Maintain accurate digital patient records and assist with clinical charting
Qualifications
- Current Dental Assistant certification or Radiology license (Indiana required)
- Minimum 2 years of chairside dental assisting experience in a general practice
- Proficiency in digital radiography (X-rays) and practice management software
- Strong knowledge of infection control and sterilization protocols
- CPR/BLS certification required (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
- Excellent communication skills with ability to put anxious patients at ease
- Detail-oriented with ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- High school diploma or equivalent; dental assisting program preferred
