Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations and treatments by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort.
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures, including handing instruments and providing suction.
- Take and develop dental X-rays (radiographs) and impressions as directed by the dentist.
- Maintain strict sterilization and infection control protocols in accordance with OSHA and CDC guidelines.
- Manage patient records, update charts, and handle insurance verification and billing inquiries.
- Perform coronal polishing and other chairside assisting duties as required by state regulations.
- Provide post-operative instructions and educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques.
Qualifications
- Certification or graduation from an accredited Dental Assistant program.
- Current DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) certification or RDA (Registered Dental Assistant) license in California.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical dental setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient service.
- Proficiency with dental software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
