As a Triage Nurse, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients seeking medical advice. You will utilize your clinical judgment to assess symptoms, provide appropriate care instructions, and facilitate timely medical intervention. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive telephone and virtual triage assessments for patients presenting a wide range of symptoms.
- Evaluate patient history, symptoms, and vital signs to determine appropriate level of care and urgency.
- Provide accurate medical advice, health education, and self-care instructions to patients and caregivers.
- Coordinate patient referrals to physicians, specialists, or emergency services as necessary.
- Maintain detailed and accurate electronic health records (EHR) and documentation.
- Collaborate with the wider healthcare team to ensure continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes.
- Stay current with clinical guidelines, protocols, and best practices in nursing and triage.
Qualifications
- Current, active RN license issued by the State of Alaska.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of nursing experience, preferably in emergency department, critical care, or triage settings.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred but not required).
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NRP or ENPC preferred.
