Responsibilities
- Claims Management: Verify and code patient medical records accurately using ICD-10 and CPT coding standards to ensure compliance.
- Submission & Follow-up: Submit claims to insurance carriers (Medicare, Medicaid, Private Insurers) and perform timely follow-ups on unpaid or denied claims.
- AR Management: Monitor accounts receivable, prepare statements, and manage patient collections to ensure timely revenue flow.
- Reconciliation: Perform monthly billing reconciliations and resolve discrepancies with clearinghouses and payers.
- Patient Communication: Handle billing inquiries from patients professionally and explain insurance benefits and financial responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing, Coding, or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Certification: CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CPC-A, or RHIT/RHIA certification is a strong plus.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing and claims processing.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner, or Greenway).
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of HIPAA regulations, CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding guidelines.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
