Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments via phone and in-person to determine urgency of care needs
- Triage patients using standardized protocols and clinical judgment to prioritize emergency cases
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care pathways
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) documentation for all triage interactions
- Educate patients on appropriate care settings and home management strategies
- Monitor patient flow and department resources to optimize operational efficiency
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and emergency response drills
Qualifications
- Active RN license in California (CA) with current BLS certification
- Minimum 2 years of emergency department or urgent care experience
- Strong clinical assessment skills with ability to make rapid decisions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for diverse patient interactions
- Proficiency in EHR systems (experience with Epic preferred)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in high-pressure situations
- Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
