Responsibilities
- Process and submit medical claims to insurance companies and government payers (Medicare/Medicaid)
- Verify patient eligibility, benefits, and coverage details prior to service
- Conduct thorough claim audits and resolve denials/rejections within 48 hours
- Maintain accurate patient accounts and electronic health records (EHR) documentation
- Collaborate with clinical teams to clarify coding discrepancies and documentation gaps
- Generate monthly financial reports and aging accounts receivable summaries
- Stay updated on CMS regulations, HIPAA compliance, and coding updates (ICD-10/CPT)
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Proficient in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, or NextGen)
- Expert knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding systems
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience working with EHR systems and electronic claims submission
- Excellent communication skills for patient and insurer interactions
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred
