Responsibilities
- Verify and accurately enter patient demographic and insurance information into the billing system.
- Generate and submit medical claims to insurance payers (commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare) according to payer guidelines.
- Monitor claim status and follow up on unpaid or denied claims; prepare and submit appeals as needed.
- Review patient statements and resolve billing inquiries to ensure maximum reimbursement.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and healthcare billing standards.
- Collaborate with the clinical and finance teams to resolve documentation issues that affect claims.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Certification (e.g., CPC, CPC-H, COC) is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and coding.
- Proficient in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) and practice management software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth).
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
