What You Will Do:
- Dispense Medications: Accurately prepare and package prescription medications for patients following doctor's orders.
- Verify Information: Review prescriptions for completeness and accuracy, verifying patient identity and insurance details.
- Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining accurate inventory levels, ordering stock, and managing pharmacy supplies.
- Customer Service: Interact with patients to answer questions regarding their medications, insurance, and pharmacy services.
- Software Proficiency: Utilize pharmacy dispensing software and automation systems to process transactions efficiently.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all state and federal laws, including HIPAA and DEA regulations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and package prescription medications accurately and efficiently.
- Verify patient information, insurance details, and physician orders prior to dispensing.
- Maintain accurate pharmacy inventory and manage stock levels.
- Operate pharmacy dispensing systems and handle cash transactions.
- Provide excellent customer service and educate patients on medication usage.
- Assist the Pharmacist with compounding and special orders when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal pharmacy regulations.
Qualifications
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or eligible to sit for the certification exam (PTCB/ExCPT).
- Current, valid California Pharmacy Technician License.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Basic computer proficiency and typing skills.
