Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures following OSHA and CLIA guidelines
- Label, process, and transport specimens to laboratory with meticulous documentation
- Maintain sterile environments and infection control protocols throughout workstations
- Provide patient education on procedures and ensure comfort during blood draws
- Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment including centrifuges and analyzers
- Collaborate with clinical team to resolve specimen collection issues
- Adhere to HIPAA compliance and maintain strict patient confidentiality
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, NHA, or AMT)
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in a hospital or lab setting
- Strong knowledge of venipuncture techniques and specimen handling
- CPR/BLS certification from an accredited provider
- Excellent communication skills with diverse patient populations
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments
- Attention to detail with precise documentation abilities
- High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework preferred
