Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures with precision and minimal patient discomfort
- Process, label, and transport specimens to laboratory while adhering to HIPAA and OSHA protocols
- Maintain accurate patient records and specimen documentation using electronic health systems
- Operate and sterilize phlebotomy equipment including needles, tubes, and dermal puncture devices
- Provide patient education on pre-test preparation and post-procedure care instructions
- Collaborate with healthcare team to ensure seamless workflow and sample integrity
- Conduct quality control checks and troubleshoot collection issues as needed
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, NHA, or equivalent)
- High school diploma or GED with 1+ years clinical experience
- Valid Wisconsin phlebotomy license
- CPR/BLS certification from American Heart Association
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems (EHR)
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to calm anxious patients
- Strong attention to detail and specimen handling protocols
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
