Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, sterile fields, and surgical equipment according to procedure protocols
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce aseptic techniques
- Count and account for all surgical instruments, sponges, and sharps
- Prepare and transport specimens for laboratory analysis
- Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment including endoscopic cameras and robotic systems
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and safety compliance
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential through NBSTSA or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year recent OR experience in general surgery or specialty area
- BLS certification required (ACLS preferred)
- Knowledge of sterile processing and surgical instrumentation
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Strong communication skills and ability to function in high-pressure situations
- Flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends and on-call
- Florida state surgical technologist license (if applicable)
