Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Submit electronic claims to insurance payers and follow up on claim status
- Resolve billing discrepancies through effective communication with providers and payers
- Maintain patient confidentiality and strict HIPAA compliance
- Analyze aging reports and implement denial prevention strategies
- Utilize practice management software for claim submission and tracking
- Conduct regular audits to ensure coding accuracy and compliance
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of medical billing experience in a clinical or hospital setting
- Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification preferred
- Expert knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and commercial insurance guidelines
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Experience with EHR/EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, or similar)
