Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections with minimal patient discomfort
- Verify patient identity and ensure accurate specimen labeling per HIPAA standards
- Process and transport specimens to laboratory for testing with proper chain-of-custody protocols
- Maintain sterile workstations and calibrated equipment following OSHA guidelines
- Document procedures accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Provide patient education on pre-test preparation and post-phlebotomy care
- Collaborate with clinical staff to optimize patient flow and efficiency
Qualifications
- Active Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, AMT, or NHA)
- Minimum 1 year of clinical phlebotomy experience
- Current CPR/BLS certification from recognized provider
- Proficiency in EHR documentation systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
- Exceptional attention to detail and specimen handling accuracy
- Strong interpersonal skills with diverse patient populations
- Ability to work efficiently in high-volume settings
- Must pass background check and drug screening
