Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws with precision and minimal patient discomfort
- Process and transport specimens to lab facilities maintaining strict chain-of-custody protocols
- Verify patient identity and prepare specimens for analysis per HIPAA guidelines
- Calibrate and maintain phlebotomy equipment including vacutainers and centrifuges
- Document all procedures accurately in electronic health records systems
- Provide patient education on pre-test preparation and aftercare instructions
- Collaborate with clinical teams to optimize workflow efficiency
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP or NCCT preferred)
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience in fast-paced environment
- BLS/CPR certification required
- Proficiency in LIS/HIS data entry systems
- Exceptional venipuncture skills with low complication rates
- Strong interpersonal communication abilities
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure with competing priorities
- Must pass background check and drug screening
