Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, sterile fields, and surgical instruments according to procedure protocols
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce infection control standards
- Count and account for all surgical instruments, sponges, and sharps before/during/after procedures
- Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment including endoscopic cameras and robotic systems
- Transport patients between pre-op, OR, and recovery areas with safety protocols
- Document procedural events and inventory in electronic health records
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years recent OR experience in general surgery specialties
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Proficiency in sterile processing and sterilization techniques
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50+ pounds
- Strong knowledge of surgical terminology and instrument sets
- Exceptional communication and teamwork skills
- Must pass background check and drug screening
