Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile fields and surgical instruments for complex procedures including orthopedic, neuro, and general surgeries
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies
- Maintain strict aseptic technique and infection control protocols throughout all procedures
- Accountable for surgical equipment sterilization, maintenance, and inventory management
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams to ensure seamless patient care coordination
- Document all surgical procedures accurately in compliance with regulatory standards
- Participate in emergency surgeries with composure and precision
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years recent experience in hospital operating room setting
- Expert knowledge of sterile processing techniques and OSHA regulations
- Ability to anticipate surgeon needs during high-pressure procedures
- Strong understanding of surgical instrument types and handling protocols
- Current BLS certification with ability to obtain ACLS within 6 months
- Excellent physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift 50+ lbs
- Exceptional attention to detail and crisis management skills
