Responsibilities
- Conduct rapid patient assessments and prioritize cases based on medical urgency using ESI protocols
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop immediate care plans
- Document patient encounters accurately in EMR systems while maintaining HIPAA compliance
- Provide clear, compassionate communication to patients and families during high-stress situations
- Monitor patient vitals and recognize subtle changes requiring immediate intervention
- Maintain inventory of triage supplies and equipment for optimal department readiness
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives for triage protocols
Qualifications
- Current NE RN license with unrestricted practice status
- Minimum 2 years Emergency Department or critical care experience
- BLS, ACLS, and TNCC certifications required
- Expertise in ESI (Emergency Severity Index) triage methodology
- Exceptional critical thinking and decision-making abilities
- Proven ability to remain calm under pressure during mass casualty events
- Strong documentation skills with EMR proficiency
- Excellent interpersonal communication for diverse patient populations
