Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant will work under the supervision of physicians and nurses to provide clinical and administrative support. This is a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and patient communication are key.
Responsibilities
- Clinical Duties: Perform patient vitals, administer injections, prepare patients for examinations, and assist physicians during procedures.
- Administrative Duties: Manage patient records, schedule appointments, verify insurance, and handle incoming calls.
- Phlebotomy: Draw blood samples for lab tests using proper aseptic techniques.
- Communication: Educate patients on medications and treatment plans, ensuring they understand their care.
- Inventory: Monitor and restock medical supplies and exam rooms to ensure readiness.
- Compliance: Adhere to all hospital protocols, HIPAA regulations, and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Certification: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (CMA, RMA, or NCMA certification preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a hospital or clinic setting.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Skills: Proficiency in phlebotomy, EKG administration, and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient-centric care.
