Responsibilities
- Patient Interaction: Greet patients warmly, verify demographic and insurance information, and escort them to exam rooms to ensure a seamless patient experience.
- Clinical Support: Assist physicians and advanced practice providers with patient examinations, taking vital signs, and recording patient histories accurately.
- Procedural Assistance: Perform basic laboratory tests, including phlebotomy, EKGs, and spirometry, following strict safety protocols.
- Administrative Duties: Manage patient charts electronically, schedule appointments, handle phone inquiries, and prepare medical records for visits.
- Medication Management: Assist in the preparation and administration of medications under direct supervision, ensuring proper documentation.
- Inventory Control: Monitor and restock exam rooms with necessary supplies, instruments, and medications.
- Compliance: Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and clinic policies to maintain patient confidentiality and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Certification: Current CMA (Certified Medical Assistant), RMA (Registered Medical Assistant), or NCMA certification is required. BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth) is highly desirable.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and staff.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift patients or equipment, and perform manual dexterity tasks (e.g., drawing blood) with precision.
- Licensure: Valid state license (if applicable) and clean background check required.
