Responsibilities
- Prepare Patients: Greet patients, verify their information, and prepare them for examination by the physician or nurse practitioner.
- Vital Signs: Accurately measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates.
- Assist Clinical Procedures: Prepare examination rooms with necessary instruments and equipment, and assist providers during minor office procedures.
- Lab Work: Collect and prepare blood, tissue, or other specimens for laboratory analysis and perform basic point-of-care testing.
- Administrative Support: Schedule appointments, manage patient records, and handle insurance verification with precision.
- Infection Control: Adhere strictly to hospital hygiene protocols and safety standards to protect patients and staff.
- Patient Education: Provide basic health education and instructions to patients regarding medications and follow-up care.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Medical Assistant certification is a plus but not mandatory for this entry-level role.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build rapport with patients from diverse backgrounds and handle sensitive situations with empathy.
- Technical Aptitude: Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Physical Ability: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform light physical tasks.
