Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Prepare patients for examinations, take vital signs, and assist physicians during medical procedures.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Lab Procedures: Perform basic laboratory tests, draw blood samples (phlebotomy), and prepare specimens for analysis.
- Communication: Act as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers, answering questions and explaining treatment plans.
- Infection Control: Adhere to strict hygiene and safety protocols to ensure a sterile environment.
- Scheduling: Manage appointment schedules, patient intake forms, and insurance verification.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.
- Certification: Current certification as a CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) is highly desirable.
- Licensure: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or outpatient setting is a plus.
- Skills: Proficiency in phlebotomy, EKG, and electronic medical records software.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to work well in a team.
