Responsibilities
- Review and assign accurate CPT/ICD-10 codes to medical procedures and diagnoses
- Submit electronic claims to insurance payers and track claim status daily
- Resolve billing discrepancies through direct communication with providers and insurers
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain strict patient confidentiality
- Analyze aging reports and follow up on unpaid claims within 30-60 days
- Train staff on billing processes and regulatory updates
- Generate monthly revenue cycle performance reports for leadership
Qualifications
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC credential required
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a multi-specialty practice
- Expertise in CMS-1500 claims processing and electronic health records (EHR)
- Strong knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and commercial insurance regulations
- Proficiency in billing software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, or NextGen)
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management preferred
- Experience with denial management and appeals processes
