Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient demographics and insurance information for accuracy before billing.
- Submit medical claims to insurance carriers (commercial, Medicaid, Medicare) in a timely manner using EPIC or NextGen.
- Analyze denied or rejected claims to identify root causes and resubmit them for payment.
- Communicate with patients and insurance providers regarding outstanding balances and payment plans.
- Maintain and update patient records and billing logs to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Reconcile daily banking transactions and manage the lockbox process.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration or Medical Billing is preferred.
- CPC, CPT, or RHIT certification is a strong plus.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and claims processing.
- Proven knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in EHR systems and practice management software (e.g., Practice Fusion, AdvancedMD).
- Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
